Medicaid Matters Forum
Medicaid Matters Forum
April 21, 2025 6:30 pm – 8:00 pm
John P. Murtha Center, 450 Schoolhouse Rd, Johnstown, PA 15904, USA
Locals For Good has partnered with the American Democracy Scholar Program at the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown to host a Medicaid Matters forum on Monday, April 21, from 6:30 to 8:00 PM at the John P. Murtha Center on the Pitt-Johnstown campus.
This community-focused advocacy forum brings together experts and stakeholders to discuss the local impact of federal funding cuts to Medicaid, particularly on vulnerable populations and essential services. Featuring voices from healthcare, education, and other important viewpoints, the discussion will shed light on the often-overlooked ways Medicaid funding supports our communities and foster a deeper understanding of how the loss of this funding would have far-reaching consequences for all of us, and especially the most under-resourced and disproportionately affected members of Cambria County and the surrounding region.
Moderated by The Tribune-Democrat’s Chip Minemyer, this event aims to inform, engage, and inspire action on the future of Medicaid and healthcare access in our communities.
The Medicaid Matters forum is free and open to the public.

Defend Medicaid Rally
Defend Medicaid Rally
April 26, 2025 1:00 pm – 3:00 pm
Central Park, 507 Main St, Johnstown, PA 15901, USA
Join us in Johnstown’s Central Park as we demand our elected leaders hear us and defend Medicaid. Bring your signs, passion, energy, and Medicaid stories.
In the 13th Congressional District, 166,191 people are currently covered by Medicaid, a number which includes 70,171 children and 24,953 seniors. Some 77 million people are covered by Medicaid nationwide. Although the budget resolution recently passed in the House does not mention Medicaid, Medicaid comprises $8.2 trillion out of the $8.6 trillion in mandatory spending that the House Energy & Commerce Committee must use to come up with spending reduction. As a result, major cuts to Medicaid are the only way to meet the House’s budget resolution required $880 billion (or more) in spending reductions.
This event is being organized by Locals for Good (LFG)
